Tuesdays - (NEW! Starts 4/4/17)
.::Healthy Psoas::.
This Therapeutic Hatha Yoga practice will offer techniques and practices to maintain Psoas, Sacrum and SI Joint health. The offering will conclude with a guided Yoga Nidra meditation to ease the mind, body, and spirit from the effects of trauma, pain and suffering.

When the body begins to tremor, it releases chronic tension. Through this release process, the body tells that story. The places where the tremors move through, along with the places where they are unable to move through the body, reveal the physical aspects of the body's history. Which emotions are released and which are not released reveals the specific emotional aspects of these experiences. The memories or thoughts that are evoked by the tremors reveal the cognitive aspects of the same experiences. The body is unveiling each aspect of its history when it is tremoring.

All spiritual practices emphasize that in order to connect with the spiritual dimension of ourselves, we must live in the present moment. All our life long it's been natural for our muscles to contract because of dangers the body mind felt it needed to protect itself from. But when this tension isn't released and hence becomes chronic, it prevents the body from being fully alive in the present. It's ability to express it's organic liveliness is restricted by the patterns of muscle tension. When the body is allowed to tremor, the tremors release this tension, thereby allowing the body to come more fully into the present moment.

As we experience a shift in our consciousness, our energy level, and our vibrational frequency, it produces a sense of lightness in the physical body, greater clarity about our true self, and the more obvious connectedness to others.

.::Yoga for Stress & Anxiety::.
In this Restorative, Gentle and Yoga Nidra practice you will learn about and experience evidence-based practices and techniques to ease the mind, body, and spirit from the effects of tension, stress and anxiety.

Anxiety comes from fear. Humans evolve the ability to fear for the same reason every other self-respecting mammal did: survival. We fear things that will hurt us. However, since we are social creatures we don't just fear physical injury. We fear that we will miss something important, look stupid, lose something we love, or have to do something we hate, among countless other things. Even though these fears are very different than the fear we experience in a dangerous situation, our bodies only have the one central nervous system with which to respond.

Like most drug addictions, stress and anxiety have side effects: weight gain or loss, insomnia, muscle tightness, irritability, distractibility, memory failure, frequent urge to pee, high blood pressure, and so on. And like most drug addictions, the cure is not to treat the symptoms but the source: fear.

3rd Tuesdays - (NEW! Starts 4/18/17)
..:Yoga for Depression::.
This Therapeutic blend of Hatha and Restorative Yoga postures will empower your mind, body, & spirit. The offering will conclude with a guided Yoga Nidra meditation to ease the effects of depression and relieve suffering.

"In a world obsessed with psychopharmacology, (Yoga for Depression) is a refreshing reminder that, in some cases, the tools we have to cure depression reside not in a pill, but our own bodies, if we are willing to try." ~ Lauren Slater, author of Prozac Diary

More than 25 million Americans are treated with antidepressants each year, at a cost in excess of $50 billion. But the side effects of popular prescription drugs may seem nearly as depressing as the symptoms they're meant to treat.

Through specific postures, breathing practices, and meditation techniques one can ease suffering and release life's traumas and losses.

Take the natural path to mental wellness with me EVERY 3rd TUESDAY (beginning on 4/18/17), 7-8:30pm. I will share empowering practices and techniques that have helped me in overcoming depression and will offer a better solution than the Western mindset of prescription drugs.

4th Tuesdays -
.::Retrain Your Brain::.
In this Restorative, Gentle and Yoga Nidra practice you will learn about and experience evidence-based practices and techniques to bring awareness to the mind's unconscious and habitual patterns for improved health and happiness.

"All sentient beings developed through natural selection in such a way that pleasant sensations serve as thier guide, and especially the pleasure derived from sociability and from loving our families." ~ Charles Darwin

Each of us has two wolves in the heart, one of love and one of hate. Everything depends on which one we feed each day. While the wolf of hate gets more press, the wolf of love is actually bigger and stronger, and its development over millions of years has been a major factor in driving the evolution of the brain. The size of the human brain has tripled in the past 3 million years; much of this growth is devoted to interpersonal capabilities such as empathy and cooperative planning.

As the brain grew in size, early humans needed a longer childhood to develop and train the brain; and as childhood grew longer, our ancestors needed to find new ways to bond parents and children and other members of the tribe in order to preserve 'the village it takes to raise a child.' Meanwhile, the wolf of hate also evolved. Hunter-gatherer bands frequently engaged in highly lethal violence toward each other.

Cooperation and aggression – love and hate – coevolved synergistically. Their capabilities and inclinations remain with us today. The wolf of hate shrinks the circle of 'us,' sometimes to the point that only the self is left inside it. The brain routinely categorizes 'us' and 'them,' and then automatically prefers 'us' and devalues 'them.' Ironically, sometimes the wolf of hate is set outside the circle of 'us.' But there is no killing the wolf of hate, and denying it just lets it grow in the shadows. We need to acknowledge the wolf of hate and appreciate the power of the wolf of love – and then restrain the one while feeding the other.

"If there is to be a future, it will wear a crown of feminine design." ~ Aurobindo

Something profoundly important is missing from a world in which the power of the divine feminine is not understood, and in which women themselves are out of touch with their own Shakti, the force of feminine strength and the flavors of feminine love.

This series was created so that we may join together and re-member and re-align the divinely feminine and powerfully rhythmic aspects within ourselves with the larger forces of nature.

Our world needs more strong, empowered and healed Women. If you feel called to embark on this path of healing with me, please register today. Space is limited to a group of 12 women in order to maintain an intimate and sacred healing environment.

The New Year is under way and we have passed through the halfway point, Imbolc, on the way towards Spring Equinox. It is a time of coming back to life as the days grow longer. What has withered over the past season and needs to be let go of? What patterns, habits, relationships, beliefs are ready to be released and composted to fertilize the ground for new seeds to be planted and nourished to fruition in the coming season/year?

Join Tiffany Georgia and Kim Knebel for another Mala Making workshop where you can explore these questions in a meditative and restorative yoga practice to then bring forth your heart’s desires and pour them into crafting your very own Mala! Infuse this sacred tool for meditation with your intentions, be they to let go of things which no longer serve you to cultivate new practices, or a combination of both.

If you have missed previous workshops, here’s another chance.  If you’ve been and now want to make a Mala for gifting to a loved one, please know this is a great time to do that as well. We look forward to sharing this nourishing practice with you.

Space is limited to 12 participants.

Author David Frawley (Astrology of the Seers) sees astrology as "a means of converting all the Universe into a simple language for the development of the Soul."

As Souls, we all have the same potential and the same basic problems to work out in our destiny. The spiritual goal is to go beyond the need to be somebody in the external world. In this regard our birth chart is the picture of our ignorance, the pattern of desire in karma in which we are caught. The purpose of Astrology is not just to tell us what this pattern is, but to show us the way out of it.

As Souls, we are not limited to the birth chart, though it represents the present phase of our manifestation. It is a structure that we have created, though not entirely in this life, and one that we can change in time by changing our daily action. While we can look at this process as an unfoldment in time, it is more an unfoldment of related qualities and will not follow the same line of development in each individual.

While this is largely a process of Yoga and Meditation, the remedial measures of Astrology will prove to be a helpful tool to facilitate it. Participants will learn about and experience an Alchemy of tools for  healing & spiritual growth, including; Yoga, Meditation, Mudra, Mantra, Yantra, Vedic Astrology, Hindu Mythology, Gemstone Healing, and Aromatherapy.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED in order to prepare your birth chart prior to the workshop. Upon paid registration, please submit the following information to Tiffany Georgia at: EmpowerTucsonYoga@gmail.com

Winter 3-Week Series with Tiffany Georgia
Sundays, 2/12, 2/19, & 2/26, 12-2pm

Each of us enters this lifetime through the miracle of birth - conceived by humans, pushed into the world through the body of our mother. It's said that we choose our families; that we choose our parents, siblings, cultures, even the time and place we are born into, because our souls have determined that this is where we will learn fastest on our journey of soul growth. Well chosen or not, we are all born into family, lineage, tribe. Now, it would be lovely if the family we've landed into is brimming with nothing but love and light, a continuous feast of honey and roses. However, for many of us this is not the case.

Over  the course of these three weeks, we will work deeply, and with intention. We'll be connecting, repairing and releasing the energetic strands and emotional cording that exist in every family's karma. It is serious energy work.

This workshop is welcoming to all levels. That means, you don't need a background in spiritual or yogic practices to do this work. I will guide you through, step by step, at a level that you feel comfortable with. This also means that if you are more advanced in your practice, you will understand intuitively where to expand and go deeper with this material.

We will use a variety of spiritual tools in this work, such as: yoga, meditation, breathing exercises, tremor release exercises, ancient ritual, journaling, etc. This workshop is designed to bring about deep healing and change to your family relationships, and the deeper karma of your family line. As you work through this course, you will notice: shifts in the way you think about your family, in the way family members relate to you and each other, release and relaxation of energy in a profound, palpable way, in addition to healing on multiple levels.

In many cases, you will feel free, perhaps for the first time in your life. It is a great gift to be able to honor and heal our family in this way. Often, we will be the first in our lineage to have taken on this task, or we will follow in the footsteps of others who came before us, who also healed family karma.

Women's Yoga for Healing: New Moon in Capricorn/Winter Solstice - Dhumavati: Crone Goddess of Disappointent & Letting Go

Perceived as the Void, as the dissolved form of consciences, when all beings are dissolved in sleep in the in the Supreme Brahman, having swallowed the entire Universe, the seer-poets call her the most glorious and the eldest, Dhumavati, Crone Goddess of Disappointment and Letting Go. She exists in the form of sleep, lack of memory, illusion, and dullness in the creatures immersed in the illusion of the world, but among yogis she becomes the power that destroys all thoughts, indeed (she is) Samadhi itself.

Dhumavati is one of the group of 10 Goddesses known as the Mahavidyas, or Great Wisdoms. They are Goddesses who incarnate different stages on the path of Self-Realization, or states of unfolding consciousness. In the Tantric tradition of the Mahavidyas, Dhumavati represents the void stage which we all must go through on the path of higher awareness. In any creative or growth process, there is a difficult but necessary stage of void. All our efforts have been fruitless. We know there is further to go but we don't know how to get there.

At such a moment, the only way through is to let go of expectation, hope, and our desire for comfort, money, recognition, or eve spiritual experience. These are the times in life when we come face to face with our inability to control outcomes, when our skills seem to have deserted us. We find ourselves in a state of emptiness and vulnerability, broken open by disappointment or loss or by our own failure to live up to our expectations of ourselves.

In failure, Dhumavati is our guide. She takes us down into the cave if the soul, and when we follow her, she shows us the spring that bubbles up out of the empty places in the heart. Dhumavati is one of those Shaktis who looks fierce but us actually tender hearted. She's supposed to give her devotees whatever they desire - when we look lovingly into the face of disappointment, we tap into her love and power.

Come, join me in honoring the recently passed Winter Solstice and the upcoming New Moon in Capricorn with this restorative and gentle yoga therapy practice themed on the Goddess Dhumavati; which includes a live music offering by the talented vocalist & harpist Mariah McCammond, journaling, aromatherapy, and yoga nidra to help you in your own releasing process during this auspicious time of year, when it is both End and Beginning.

Every thought, emotion, and feeling has a unique vibrational state or frequency. It is the body that maintains the frequency that allows us to resonate with a particular emotion, or to have any experience. Therefore, we can honor our spiritual nature through a greater attentiveness to the pulsations, rhythms, patterns of tension and ease, and vibrations of our bodies.

The most sacred form of prayer is one that comes through natural and uninhibited rhythms, vibrations, and movements of the body. By moving our body rhythmically, a respiratory pattern naturally emerges, inviting divergent energies to coexist in harmony. In this state, our prayer reflects who we are, where we have been, and what we have done. It is profound in it's organic nature, and provides a powerful means of sanctifying our wounds and the stories about ourselves.

It is through our body that we can express Spirit, or the essence of our Divinity. And it is only through our profound attentiveness to our body that we can truly honor our spiritual Self, and transform our experiences of life.

This workshop series offers a blend of healing modalities which Tiffany has combined with the intention to create a natural, safe and profoundly sacred space for healing. In each offering participants will experience a mindfulness-based Hatha Yoga practice focused on identifying and easing into the tension held within and throughout the body, followed by a natural, rhythmic tremor experience (adapted from TRE as trained by David Berceli, P.h.D.) to release excess stress and trauma which has been trapped within the cellular tissues. Each class will conclude with a deep guided relaxation and a themed Yoga Nidra journey. Healing Mantras & Mudras, Aromatherapy & Crystal Healing are also included in this women's therapeutic yoga series.

It time to initiate. It's time shift out of the void, grab hold of our dreams and leap into the Real. Time to place our bets on our own creative power. Time to let the Divine Light shine through us.

Mandala is the Sanskrit word meaning center, circumference, or magic circle. The most meaningful journey begins when we bring intention to the activity of creating a mandala. Creation is the general process by which primordial energy takes shape, grows, releases, and returns to source. The circle becomes a container to hold our most cherished ideas and emotions. It is not what we create that is important, rather the fact that we are creating.

Yoga is the Sanskrit word meaning Union or connection. One of the most beneficial aspects of practicing yoga is cultivating the mind, body and spirit connection. From this space of infinite possibilities we are able to allow the natural process of creation to unfold.

Women's Yoga for Healing ✨New Moon Offering✨MONDAY, 11/9/15, 7-8:30pm 148 S 4th Avenue - Tucson Yoga

~ Women's Yoga for Healing ~
✨ New Moon Offering ✨
MONDAY, 11/9/15, 7-8:30pm
148 S 4th Avenue - Tucson Yoga
www.TucsonYoga.com

~~~
A New Moon happens once a month when the Sun and Moon touch each other. It’s a great time for new beginnings of any sort.  It’s also the perfect time to set intentions for ourselves. Putting our intentions out there can sometimes manifest into bigger and better things. Sometimes when we ask – we will receive within 6 months time, and at the time of the Full Moon, we can really gauge and assess whether or not what we started was beneficial for us.  Even if it doesn’t go the way we planned, the process itself can be beneficial so we mustn't don’t let fear of the end result deter us.
The upcoming New Moon is meeting up with the Sun in the sign of Scorpio, offering up some deeply transformative energy which can be massively evolving as we have been focusing our work inward on what's holding us back in any way from stepping into our highest potential.
For this New Moon offering we will take a journey into the depths of our souls deepest wounds and karmic ties...we have the power to expand into our divine feminine potential at this time - come, join me on this incredible adventure!!!
During our practice we will invoke Bhuvaneshwari, the Goddess of infinite space, she whose body is the world. I'd like to give you a little introduction to this Divine Goddess so that you each can fully connect with her embrace during our practice together this Monday, 11/9/15, 7-8:30pm at Tucson Yoga - 148 S 4th Avenue.
Bhuvaneshwari is both earth mother and sky mother. She is not just one-half of the mythological dualism that equates spirit to masculine and matter with feminine. She is all; nondual. She is the source of whatever emerges from the earth. She is not only the space that extends outward and up, she's also the space within, the space that extends downward into the depths of the earth and the depths of the heart.
"Vast as the universe is the tiny space within the heart. The heavens and earth are there, and the sun and moon and stars. Fire and lightening and wind are there, and all that now exists, and all that is not."
Bhuvaneshwari is shunya - the void. But she is also described as purna - or fullness. Just as all numbers are potentially present in zero, all that could possibly exist is potential in the void. Shunya is empty yet full. Akasha is space between that has no beginning or end, which contains all potentiality. Everything begins and ends in it.
Though Bhuvaneshwari IS the source of matter, though she IS the matrix, though she IS the goddess as Maya - the cosmic measurer who deludes and traps us into seeing matter as separate from spirit - she IS also a portal back into nonduality.
The madhya - the center - is the gap between one activity and another. Like the still point where a pendulum stops before gathering energy to swing again, the madhya is an empty space pregnant with power. You find the madhya in the tiny pause between one breath and another. You find it in a mind that pauses between thoughts. Bhuvaneshwari is the "breath inside the breath," - and in time, that nearly invisible, hidden space between the breaths can open, imploding inward, expanding into a spaciousness that is infinite - as large as you are able to conceive, and even larger. You find the Goddess Bhuvaneshwari here, more intimate than your breath.
Full Moon in Taurus - Women's Yoga for Healing Offering: Monday, 10/26/15, 7-8:30pm
As the Full Moon in Taurus is receptive to the light (and the shadowy aspects) of the Sun in Scorpio, as women we are receptive to the light of our most creative expressions and deepest inner desires.
We may feel like the layers of our heart's are being pulled away.  What we come face to face with is the bare truth. Here in this broken open place lives the whispers written on the walls of our hearts. Here is the home of our desires. Here is the domain of Venus.
While the Taurus Moon highlights our need for stability in relationships, the Scorpio Sundrives us to delve into the world of unexplainable passions. This is a time be fearless and vulnerable, experienced and innocent, receiving and attracting, all at the same time, radiating our own superb glow!
Oh my Godesses...we are in for a spectacular treat THIS MONDAY for our Full Moon Women's Yoga for Healing gathering! One of the amazing and talented healers I work with has prepared some delicious treats for me to share in our practice together and they will also be available for purchase so that you to take them home with you!
Azreal Wagner of Guardian of the Heart Healing Arts has prepared a 'Calm Balm' salve to increase stability, peace and a sense of lifted centering. They are each infused with Blue Sage, coconut oil, several gems and minerals and Yarrow Flower for healthy boundaries. The Blue Sage has a spicy, earthy scent and is backed up by the subtle aroma of Sweet Orange. These will be offered for $10/each. She has also prepared an herbal Blue Sage smudge for burning, which can be purchased for $5/each.
What is nourishing you? What is starving you? Are you feeding your desires or are you pinching them off? Are you listening to your heart? Are you nurturing a strong foundation for your dreams? Are you tapped into our cut off from the deep flow of emotion and feeling from within?"
Come, join me for this divinely sacred feminine offering.
Come, reconnect with yourself in a way you may have never imagined.
In Dr. Donald Epstein's book "Healing Myths: Healing Magic" he contends the myth which states that 'healing takes a lot of work and requires full commitment' and then explains that healing is easy, effortless, and natural.
Healing is natural and spontaneous, but an inability to experience our body with confidence and trust can hinder the healing process.
Our body attempts to heal itself by releasing what it no longer needs - physically, chemically, emotionally, or energetically - but often our intellect tries to resist or stop this process.
By surrendering to the natural rhythm and flow of life, we step into the natural rhythm and flow of healing.
The spiritually wise and greatly inspiring poet Rumi offered this piece, which elegantly depicts this concept of gracefully surrendering to what naturally is without the need to alter the process in any way.
"Joseph is back.
And if you don't feel in yourself
The freshness of Joseph,
Be Jacob.
Weep and then smile.
Do not pretend to know something
You have not experienced.
There is a necessary dying,
Then Jesus is breathing again.
Very little grows on jagged rock.
Be ground.  Be crumbled.
So wild flowers will come up
Where you are.
You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.  Surrender."
Rumi completes this passage with such an empowering statement.
"You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.  Surrender."
Most of us have a terrible time with surrender.  We may think of it as weakness.  We may imagine that it means being out of control.  We are correct on both accounts.  It is an admission of weakness - or an inability to "make" things happen in our lives.  It is also a release of the "idea" of being in control - when in reality, we have never been in control at all.  Control is an illusion. Thus we are confounded by the outrageous words of the poet who asks us, even directs us, to try something different. That kind of different, to the conventional mind, is absurd.
Try something different.  Try.  Something.  Different. Surrender.
I invite you to try something different. I invite you to join me in a practice where I will meet you where you are and guide you into that space of deep, healing power within - where you can finally let go of all that is keeping you stuck in a space of disease. Try something different. Join me on this healing yoga journey and surrender into the natural rhythm and flow of life, and step into the natural rhythm and flow of your healing path.
Healing MYTH:
Healing means becoming more balanced, comfortable, and in control of my experience.
According to this myth, success in life depends upon becoming more balanced, comfortable, and in control of our life. Small changes are acceptable and encouraged, but rapid, unpredictable changes are to be avoided and controlled. This myth encourages us to seek a life that is predictable and safe - a life in which our plans never have to undergo rapid change. We are taught to insulate ourselves from feelings, experiences, situations, and events that we prefer not to have.
CHANGE IS A NATURAL PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE.
Symptoms and disease often have their roots in old, unresolved feelings. They arise when the truth can no longer be silenced or obscured by our convenient and established story. What we resist only persists and grows stronger, until we can no longer keep hose feelings contained within a particular region of the body. Disease, discord, and other chaotic events brings us the opportunity to break free of this energetic prison; we are biologically encouraged to "deal with it."
Healing MAGIC:
I give thanks for the unexpected events that take me from my established course and bring new experiences, relationships, and healing. I take this moment to rejoice in the miracle of life. I trust the flow of life, wherever it takes me, and make room in my day to celebrate changes in my schedule and plans.  I am nurtured by change, and embrace both chaos and order in my life.
The Fire Walk
by Sylvia Serroussi Chatroux
"I'm getting clear on what to keep
Purging out what I don't need
'Cause something's turning up the heat
I'm getting ready for my bleed.
With the waning of the Moon
I protect the essence that is me
Release emotions and take note
Embrace where I'm supposed to be.
Barefoot with a raw intent
Letting loose and dancing free
Naked as the Summer time
The Fire Walk will balance me."
What would it look like if you ripped up your to-do list, shredded your calendar, and turned off your cell phone???
When I think of possibly doing that, I often feel anxious.  I can hear an inner voice panicking and asking, “how will things get done?”
What's underneath this voice of panic is fear and a lack of faith.  If I had faith that everything is getting done, then I would allow myself to just relax more often.
We can learn a lot from this Taurus New Moon and by connecting with nature.
Everything is getting done, so RELAX and create time to enjoy and be present in your life.
When we feel free - even in the midst of perceived restrictions on our freedom (externally or internally) - then we have found that sweet spot of spiritual liberation.
