What Is THERAPEUTIC YOGA With TRE® ?

What is Therapeutic Yoga With TRE®?

TRE® (Tension & Trauma Release Exercise) is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. TRE®  safely activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system and encouraging the body to return back to a state of balance.

Therapeutic Yoga with TRE® is a unique practice that combines yoga postures (asana) and breathing exercises (pranayama) with the body’s natural, therapeutic shaking response called Self Induced Therapeutic Tremors (SITT). Therapeutic Yoga with TRE® is a simple, gentle and profound practice that facilities the lengthening and relaxation of the psoas muscle and the release of physical and emotional stress and tension. During a Therapeutic Yoga with TRE® practice, you will safely self-induce therapeutic vibration using yoga postures and breath. Often vibration begins in the legs and may spread throughout the entire body.

Whether you are a parent or spouse who would like more patience with your family, a survivor of violence or an accident, a soldier suffering with PTSD, or simply someone who wants to become more resilient and healthier, you can benefit from Therapeutic Yoga.

Reported Benefits Include:

  • Release of chronic tension and increase of energy and stamina
  • Discharge of buried emotional and physical trauma
  • Freedom from symptoms of sciatica and fibromyalgia
  • Decrease of aches and pains
  • Improved sleep
  • Improved circulation
  • Improved mood
  • Improved sense of feeling grounded and focused
  • Improved flexibility

UPCOMING THERAPEUTIC OFFERINGS

Women's Yoga for Healing

 New Moon Offering

featuring Live Music by Mariah McCammond

Monday, 5/22/17, 7-8:30pm

148 S 4th Avenue - Tucson Yoga

This women's only therapeutic practice places an emphasis on women's health and offers techniques to align oneself with the natural rhythmic forces of our bodies, our environment, and our Universe.

When we don't incorporate Nature and her rhythms into our day-to-day lives, we are ultimately going against Source, we don't feel well physically, mentally, or emotionally, and don't know why.  Our Universe, planet, ecosystems, human bodies, and the systems inside of our bodies are all naturally compatible members of a rhythmic network. It's time to "re-member" these rhythms in order to once again tap into Nature - Source's "alignment" solution for ideal function and flow.

Beginners are welcome, this practice is appropriate for ALL LEVELS, WOMEN ONLY.

150 S 4th Avenue - Tucson Yoga

Registration - limited to 12 participants
REGISTER BY MAY 27th for $65 ($75 after)

I'm partnering up with my soul sister Kim Knebel to offer another seasonal Mala-Making workshop! Come enjoy the afternoon with us and celebrate the Summer Solstice crafting a Mala for yourself or as a gift for a loved one.

What’s been growing for you? What no longer is producing the fruit you desire? What has outgrown its usefulness and needs to be let go of?  What do you wish to nurture and grow into its fullness?  What do you want to tend to see bear fruit? Now is a wonderful time to sit with such questions.

This offering includes a restorative yoga practice led by Tiffany to relax you and allow you to look inward to find what it is you want to nurture and grow. Kim will then help you weave that intention into your very own, hand-crafted Mala. We will chant Mantra together and everyone will receive a set of Mantra Cards to take home and work with along with your Mala. Mala kits include traditional rudraksha beads, choice of 6 gemstone beads, spacers and tassel.

*Additional gemstone beads, upgraded spacers and charms are available for purchase at the workshop, if desired. Please bring extra cash for add-ons. Credit card accepted for purchases over $10 at time of workshop.

When the body begins to tremor, it releases chronic tension. Through this release process, the body tells that story. The places where the tremors move through, along with the places where they are unable to move through the body, reveal the physical aspects of the body's history. Which emotions are released and which are not released reveals the specific emotional aspects of these experiences. The memories or thoughts that are evoked by the tremors reveal the cognitive aspects of the same experiences. The body is unveiling each aspect of its history when it is tremoring.

All spiritual practices emphasize that in order to connect with the spiritual dimension of ourselves, we must live in the present moment. All our life long it's been natural for our muscles to contract because of dangers the body mind felt it needed to protect itself from. But when this tension isn't released and hence becomes chronic, it prevents the body from being fully alive in the present. It's ability to express it's organic liveliness is restricted by the patterns of muscle tension. When the body is allowed to tremor, the tremors release this tension, thereby allowing the body to come more fully into the present moment.

As we experience a shift in our consciousness, our energy level, and our vibrational frequency, it produces a sense of lightness in the physical body, greater clarity about our true self, and the more obvious connectedness to others.

.::Yoga for Stress & Anxiety::.
In this Restorative, Gentle and Yoga Nidra practice you will learn about and experience evidence-based practices and techniques to ease the mind, body, and spirit from the effects of tension, stress and anxiety.

Anxiety comes from fear. Humans evolve the ability to fear for the same reason every other self-respecting mammal did: survival. We fear things that will hurt us. However, since we are social creatures we don't just fear physical injury. We fear that we will miss something important, look stupid, lose something we love, or have to do something we hate, among countless other things. Even though these fears are very different than the fear we experience in a dangerous situation, our bodies only have the one central nervous system with which to respond.

Like most drug addictions, stress and anxiety have side effects: weight gain or loss, insomnia, muscle tightness, irritability, distractibility, memory failure, frequent urge to pee, high blood pressure, and so on. And like most drug addictions, the cure is not to treat the symptoms but the source: fear.

3rd Tuesdays - (NEW! Starts 4/18/17)
..:Yoga for Depression::.
This Therapeutic blend of Hatha and Restorative Yoga postures will empower your mind, body, & spirit. The offering will conclude with a guided Yoga Nidra meditation to ease the effects of depression and relieve suffering.

"In a world obsessed with psychopharmacology, (Yoga for Depression) is a refreshing reminder that, in some cases, the tools we have to cure depression reside not in a pill, but our own bodies, if we are willing to try." ~ Lauren Slater, author of Prozac Diary

More than 25 million Americans are treated with antidepressants each year, at a cost in excess of $50 billion. But the side effects of popular prescription drugs may seem nearly as depressing as the symptoms they're meant to treat.

Through specific postures, breathing practices, and meditation techniques one can ease suffering and release life's traumas and losses.

Take the natural path to mental wellness with me EVERY 3rd TUESDAY (beginning on 4/18/17), 7-8:30pm. I will share empowering practices and techniques that have helped me in overcoming depression and will offer a better solution than the Western mindset of prescription drugs.

4th Tuesdays -
.::Retrain Your Brain::.
In this Restorative, Gentle and Yoga Nidra practice you will learn about and experience evidence-based practices and techniques to bring awareness to the mind's unconscious and habitual patterns for improved health and happiness.

"All sentient beings developed through natural selection in such a way that pleasant sensations serve as thier guide, and especially the pleasure derived from sociability and from loving our families." ~ Charles Darwin

Each of us has two wolves in the heart, one of love and one of hate. Everything depends on which one we feed each day. While the wolf of hate gets more press, the wolf of love is actually bigger and stronger, and its development over millions of years has been a major factor in driving the evolution of the brain. The size of the human brain has tripled in the past 3 million years; much of this growth is devoted to interpersonal capabilities such as empathy and cooperative planning.

As the brain grew in size, early humans needed a longer childhood to develop and train the brain; and as childhood grew longer, our ancestors needed to find new ways to bond parents and children and other members of the tribe in order to preserve 'the village it takes to raise a child.' Meanwhile, the wolf of hate also evolved. Hunter-gatherer bands frequently engaged in highly lethal violence toward each other.

Cooperation and aggression – love and hate – coevolved synergistically. Their capabilities and inclinations remain with us today. The wolf of hate shrinks the circle of 'us,' sometimes to the point that only the self is left inside it. The brain routinely categorizes 'us' and 'them,' and then automatically prefers 'us' and devalues 'them.' Ironically, sometimes the wolf of hate is set outside the circle of 'us.' But there is no killing the wolf of hate, and denying it just lets it grow in the shadows. We need to acknowledge the wolf of hate and appreciate the power of the wolf of love – and then restrain the one while feeding the other.

"If there is to be a future, it will wear a crown of feminine design." ~ Aurobindo

Something profoundly important is missing from a world in which the power of the divine feminine is not understood, and in which women themselves are out of touch with their own Shakti, the force of feminine strength and the flavors of feminine love.

This series was created so that we may join together and re-member and re-align the divinely feminine and powerfully rhythmic aspects within ourselves with the larger forces of nature.

Our world needs more strong, empowered and healed Women. If you feel called to embark on this path of healing with me, please register today. Space is limited to a group of 12 women in order to maintain an intimate and sacred healing environment.

The New Year is under way and we have passed through the halfway point, Imbolc, on the way towards Spring Equinox. It is a time of coming back to life as the days grow longer. What has withered over the past season and needs to be let go of? What patterns, habits, relationships, beliefs are ready to be released and composted to fertilize the ground for new seeds to be planted and nourished to fruition in the coming season/year?

Join Tiffany Georgia and Kim Knebel for another Mala Making workshop where you can explore these questions in a meditative and restorative yoga practice to then bring forth your heart’s desires and pour them into crafting your very own Mala! Author David Frawley (Astrology of the Seers) sees astrology as "a means of converting all the Universe into a simple language for the development of the Soul."

As Souls, we all have the same potential and the same basic problems to work out in our destiny. The spiritual goal is to go beyond the need to be somebody in the external world. In this regard our birth chart is the picture of our ignorance, the pattern of desire in karma in which we are caught. The purpose of Astrology is not just to tell us what this pattern is, but to show us the way out of it.

As Souls, we are not limited to the birth chart, though it represents the present phase of our manifestation. It is a structure that we have created, though not entirely in this life, and one that we can change in time by changing our daily action. While we can look at this process as an unfoldment in time, it is more an unfoldment of related qualities and will not follow the same line of development in each individual.

While this is largely a process of Yoga and Meditation, the remedial measures of Astrology will prove to be a helpful tool to facilitate it. Participants will learn about and experience an Alchemy of tools for  healing & spiritual growth, including; Yoga, Meditation, Mudra, Mantra, Yantra, Vedic Astrology, Hindu Mythology, Gemstone Healing, and Aromatherapy.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED in order to prepare your birth chart prior to the workshop. Upon paid registration, please submit the following information to Tiffany Georgia at: EmpowerTucsonYoga@gmail.com

Quartz - a Gift from Mother Earth, a Tool for Personal Growth

I recently did a bit of rockhounding (with my friend MaryRose & my pup Luna) up on Mt. Lemmon after the last snowfall we had began to melt. I was hoping to find and collect a bunch of smaller, hand-held sized Quartz to give as gifts for my Women's Yoga for Healing group.

Well...needless to say we hit the Quartz jack-pot, there were all shapes, sizes and densities popping out all over! I washed them up and charged them out under the recent Full Moon in Leo and have been sharing these little gifts from Mother Earth in my practices all week!

Here's more information about some of the many the benefits of working with this empowering tool...

Quartz, a Gift from Mother Earth -

Quartz crystals are truly a gift from Mother Earth.  They have the ability to amplify or strengthen all the energies of the Inner Being, which is everything we are as a person.

They strengthen all the things in us that are positive, and they can help us put away things that cause fear or anger. They can strengthen our ability to be a loving person, and can enhance our abilities to enjoy life and accomplish the things we want in life.

They can amplify intention, reduce stress, help with centering (balancing or calming), strengthen inner healing abilities, and surround us with protection by amplifying white light.  And they can make it easier to take steps toward personal growth.

The reason quartz is called the master stone is that it strengthens all our energies in a very broad spectrum sort of way.
In order to use a quartz crystal to strengthen our energies, all we have to do is keep it with us, or keep it close to where we spend some time.

We don't need to do anything special to the crystal in order to have its benefits.  For example, if we carry a quartz crystal point in our pocket, it will act as a general amplifier that will strengthen all of our personal energies at the same time.

Quartz and Personal Growth -

A quartz crystal can be of great benefit in taking steps towards personal growth, because it strengthens the energy that we ourselves put out, and this, in turn, makes it easier for us to take growth steps.

The amplified energy sent back to us from the crystal helps to make attitude changes, and helps us practice those changes until they become part of who we are.  However, the crystal can't do the actual growth for us.  Only we can do that.  Remember that we "have to be it to have it".  This means we must be a certain kind of person to have the energies or characteristics that go along with being that way.  Working with this tool helps us gain this insight and realize our callings.

People sometimes think that what crystals do is magic since they use a type of subtle energy that has not yet been discovered by science.  But a crystal is not a magic tool, just a good tool in that it strengthens our own abilities and intentions.

This means that in order to make a crystal work to help us grow, we have to put in the energy (in terms of intention) to make the growth steps ourselves.  We ourselves must increase our awareness in each particular area where we want to grow.  A crystal or stone can not do that for us.  It can not make us grow against our will, or with no effort on our part.  But it will make it easier to reach a new awareness, and it will also make it easier to use our intention to practice that new awareness.

If you haven't had a chance to practice with me this week, I'll be sharing 1 more community offering before I leave for training this weekend - come get your Yoga Love, and your very own gift of Quartz from Mother Earth!

SURRENDER into the natural rhythm of your practice with strength and grace.

I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to share what I love in such a naturally healing setting such as the beautiful desert southwest!

In Dr. Donald Epstein's book "Healing Myths: Healing Magic" he contends the myth which states that 'healing takes a lot of work and requires full commitment' and then explains that healing is easy, effortless, and natural.

Healing is natural and spontaneous, but an inability to experience our body with confidence and trust can hinder the healing process.

Our body attempts to heal itself by releasing what it no longer needs - physically, chemically, emotionally, or energetically - but often our intellect tries to resist or stop this process.

By surrendering to the natural rhythm and flow of life, we step into the natural rhythm and flow of healing.

The spiritually wise and greatly inspiring poet Rumi offered this piece, which elegantly depicts this concept of gracefully surrendering to what naturally is without the need to alter the process in any way.

"Joseph is back.
And if you don't feel in yourself
The freshness of Joseph,
Be Jacob.

Weep and then smile.
Do not pretend to know something
You have not experienced.

There is a necessary dying,
Then Jesus is breathing again.

Very little grows on jagged rock.
Be ground.  Be crumbled.
So wild flowers will come up
Where you are.

You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.  Surrender."

Rumi completes this passage with such an empowering statement.

"You have been stony for too many years.
Try something different.  Surrender."

Most of us have a terrible time with surrender.  We may think of it as weakness.  We may imagine that it means being out of control.  We are correct on both accounts.  It is an admission of weakness - or an inability to "make" things happen in our lives.  It is also a release of the "idea" of being in control - when in reality, we have never been in control at all.  Control is an illusion. Thus we are confounded by the outrageous words of the poet who asks us, even directs us, to try something different. That kind of different, to the conventional mind, is absurd.

Try something different.  Try.  Something.  Different. Surrender.

I invite you to try something different. I invite you to join me in a practice where I will meet you where you are and guide you into that space of deep, healing power within - where you can finally let go of all that is keeping you stuck in a space of disease. Try something different. Join me on this healing yoga journey and surrender into the natural rhythm and flow of life, and step into the natural rhythm and flow of your healing path.

Yoga Therapy offerings to ease through life's changes - Healing Magic

We are are in a time of rapid change and we can often have feelings of aversion arise during experiences that may become uncomfortable in any way; physically, mentally, and/or emotionally.

In my Yoga Therapy offerings I have been sharing pieces from Dr. Donald Epstein's book "Healing Myths: Healing Magic" - in which he dispels common myths that we may hold about healing, inspiring us to trust the innate power within and reclaim our body's natural ability to heal.

Join me in a healing practice today to help guide you with grace and ease on your own unique journey:

- Yin Yoga -
Every Sunday, 3:30-4:45pm
150 S 4th Avenue - Tucson Yoga

- Yoga for PTSD & Trauma -

Healing MYTH:
Healing means becoming more balanced, comfortable, and in control of my experience.

According to this myth, success in life depends upon becoming more balanced, comfortable, and in control of our life. Small changes are acceptable and encouraged, but rapid, unpredictable changes are to be avoided and controlled. This myth encourages us to seek a life that is predictable and safe - a life in which our plans never have to undergo rapid change. We are taught to insulate ourselves from feelings, experiences, situations, and events that we prefer not to have.

CHANGE IS A NATURAL PART OF EVERYDAY LIFE.

Symptoms and disease often have their roots in old, unresolved feelings. They arise when the truth can no longer be silenced or obscured by our convenient and established story. What we resist only persists and grows stronger, until we can no longer keep hose feelings contained within a particular region of the body. Disease, discord, and other chaotic events brings us the opportunity to break free of this energetic prison; we are biologically encouraged to "deal with it."

Healing MAGIC:
I give thanks for the unexpected events that take me from my established course and bring new experiences, relationships, and healing. I take this moment to rejoice in the miracle of life. I trust the flow of life, wherever it takes me, and make room in my day to celebrate changes in my schedule and plans.  I am nurtured by change, and embrace both chaos and order in my life.

The Fire Walk
by Sylvia Serroussi Chatroux

"I'm getting clear on what to keep
Purging out what I don't need
'Cause something's turning up the heat
I'm getting ready for my bleed.

With the waning of the Moon
I protect the essence that is me
Release emotions and take note
Embrace where I'm supposed to be.

Barefoot with a raw intent
Letting loose and dancing free
Naked as the Summer time
The Fire Walk will balance me."

Monthly Moon Night Hike, Yoga & Medtation at Sabino Canyon, Saturday, 6/6/15, 8-10pm

Happy Saturday Yoga Lovers!

We are gifted with a blissful Waning Gibbous Moon in Aquarius for our Monthly Night Hike, Yoga & Meditation TONIGHT and the energy is going to be spectacular!

This present moon state invites us to shed the old ways of duality and draw our awareness to the primordial lovers; Shiva & Shakti. Shakti is matter, movement, and energy. Shiva is formlessness... silence.

We can choose to cultivate the opposite (good/bad, up/down, light/dark, praise/blame, empty/full, right brain/left brain) in order to attain inner balance and bliss.

Cultivating opposites eases us away from an "us against them" warrior mentality (which is a symptom of duality consciousness) and eases us into the powerful, peaceful inner state of unity consciousness. Unity consciousness is blissful.

We must practice non-attachment in order to move beyond the pairs of opposites into more freedom. Breathe and just remember; now is the time of manifesting your dreams, go in the direction of your bliss. This poem by Rumi is most appropriate to inspire us at this time:

Tending two Shops

Don’t run around this world looking for a hole to hide in.

There are wild beasts in every cave! If you live with mice,
the cat claws will find you.

The only real rest comes when you’re alone with God.

Live in the nowhere that you came from, even though you have an address here.

That’s why you see things in two ways. Sometimes you look at a person
and see a cynical snake.

Someone else sees a joyful lover, and you’re both right!

Everyone is half and half, like the black and white ox.

Joseph looked ugly to his brothers, and most handsome to his father.

You have eyes that see from that nowhere, and eyes that judge distances,
how high and how low.

You own two shops,
and you run back and forth.

Try to close the one that’s a fearful trap, getting always smaller. Checkmate, this way. Checkmate that.

Keep open the shop
where you’re not selling fishhooks anymore. You are the free-swimming fish.

-Jelaluddin Rumi

Announcing NEW CLASS OFFERINGS starting in May!

It's sure been quite the season of change and the purpose of all this universal shifting has been to steer each of us in the direction of our life's deepest passion and highest purpose.

When we embrace the process of letting go and allow our hearts and minds to be open to all that awaits us, it can at times be unsettling, but much like the first sight of a spring bloom, it's well worth the patience to watch your journey unfold with grace and beauty.

And as the saying goes..."April showers bring May flowers..."

I'm excited to announce these NEW Yoga Love offerings, with intentional focus on specific areas of HEALING for each unique offering!

Yoga for Stress & Anxiety-
This class will be offered at $10 drop-in and passes will be available.

This offering is for any individual seeking relief from the stresses of daily life and from the mental, physical and emotional effects these stresses bring to our bodies, minds and spirits.

Women's Yoga for Healing-

This offering is for women only, with an intentional focus on healing oneself by aligning one's body with the rhythm and cycles of nature through the practice of yoga techniques such as asana (postures), pranayama (breathing) and dhyana (meditation).

We will meet twice monthly to support one another on this evolutionary journey.

Yoga for PTSD & Trauma -
